rawneed helper — Privacy Policy
What the browser extension does with data — the short, honest version. Last updated June 18, 2026.
What the extension does
The rawneed helper exists for one purpose: to fetch the public Reddit pages you research from your own browser, so the rawneed research tool can analyze them. When you run a research task in the rawneed app, the app asks the extension to fetch specific public reddit.com pages — subreddit searches, post listings, community “about” pages, and comment threads. The extension fetches them and returns the results to the app. That is all it does.
What it accesses
Only what the research task needs:
- Public Reddit content — the specific reddit.com search and thread URLs the rawneed app asks for. The extension can reach reddit.com and no other website.
- Your Reddit session — requests are made from your logged-in browser, so Reddit sees them as your normal browsing (this is what lets them succeed). The extension does NOT read, copy, store, or transmit your Reddit login, password, cookies, private messages, or account settings — only the public research pages the app requests.
What it sends, and to whom
The public Reddit thread content it fetches is passed to the rawneed web app running in your browser tab; the app then sends that thread text to rawneed’s server to be classified for your research report — the function you asked for when you ran the task. Nothing else is sent. The extension contacts no third parties, no analytics services, and no advertising networks.
What it stores
Nothing. The extension keeps no database, no history, and no profile of you — it fetches a page, hands it to the app, and forgets it. Research reports you generate are stored by the rawneed service itself, under rawneed’s main privacy policy, not by this extension.
What it does NOT do
- It does not track your browsing — on Reddit or anywhere else.
- It does not run on any site other than reddit.com (to fetch) and rawneed.com (to receive the app’s requests).
- It does not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
- It does not show ads or inject anything into pages.
Permissions
The extension requests one permission: access to reddit.com. It is required so the extension can fetch the public Reddit pages your research needs. It deliberately requests access to no other site, and never to all sites. If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version here before the change takes effect — questions: [email protected].
